The 5km is ACNW qualifier for ASA Road championships.
Potential contending athletes to be considered for a Provincial Team must be affiliated to a club and have a permanent licence number.
This includes Juniors who are contending to be considered for NW Provincial 5km Road Championships Team
Temporary license is required for all participants without permanent license, who are competing for prize money
If you are doing the 5Km Fun Run / Walk, no temporary license is required to take part for the event (no winnings will be considered for this group)

The altitude fluctuates, starting at the Klerksdorp Recreation Centre in Klerksdorp and finishing at the NWU McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom.
Elevation of Klerksdorp is 1325.52 meters or 4348.82 feet and the elevation of Potchefstroom is 1340.86 meters or 4399.16 feet, which is a difference of 15.34 meters or 50.34 feet.
The race distance is 50km. The distance is subject to change and will be confirmed in the Final Race Instructions within a reasonable period prior the race.

No Substitutions, Upgrades or Downgrades will be done on race day. It is against race rules to run in another persons race number.
The event will be electronically timed and your timing chip will be attached to your race number.
Please make sure you cross the finish mat and do not crumple, bend or fold your bib, as this may damage the timing chip and we may not be able to read your finish time.

Substitutions, Upgrades & Downgrades
• Substitutions, Upgrades & Downgrades will only be done on Wed to Fri and
NOT on race day
• Substitutions - cost of the substitution is R100.
• Upgrades - cost of the upgrade is R50 plus the difference in entry fee.
• Downgrades - cost of the downgrade is R50.
No Substitutions, Upgrades or Downgrades will be done on race day.
It is against race rules to run in another persons race number.
• Runners can make use of the Tog Bag Area that will be available at the start.
• Runners must ensure that their bags are labelled with their names on the label provided at the tog bag area.
• Every care will be taken to ensure that the bags are safeguarded. However, runners are advised not to leave expensive or valuable items in their bags, as the organisers cannot accept responsibility for any losses.

• The race is held under the rules of Athletics South Africa (ASA) and Athletics Central North West (ACNW).
By entering, each participant accepts responsibility to familiarise themselves with and abide by these rules and any additional race instructions.
• 21.1km Half Marathon is timed by Peak Timing timing.
• Each runner will receive a race number with a disposable timing chip attached to the back.
• No race number = No official time or prizes.
• 5km Run is a timed race, and the 5Km Walk is for fun participation
• Race numbers must be worn on the front of your vest or shirt at all times.
• 21.1km Half Marathon:
• All runners must wear:
• The official race number (front of vest/shirt).
• A valid 2025 ASA license number on the back or a temporary license number issued by the organisers.
• If you are running in an age category, the relevant numerical age tags must be visible on front and back.
• Foreign athletes will be issued a temporary license number if not registered with an ASA-affiliated club.
• International athletes must provide a clearance letter from their federation if they qualify for a prize.
• Foreign athletes may only run in club colours if the club exists in their country of origin, or if they hold a refugee status permit or are naturalised RSA citizens.
• 21.1km Half Marathon: Participants must be 16 years or older on race day.
• 5km Run/Walk: Open to all ages (children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult)..
• Hydration stations will be positioned approximately every 3 kilometres along the course.
• Please dispose of cups and litter only in designated bins after each water point.
• Littering on the route may result in disqualification.
• No iPods or music devices with earphones.
• No pets allowed on the route.
• All bicycles or seconding vehicles along the route must be authorised by the organiser.
• No unauthorised motorbikes.
• Runners participate entirely at their own risk.
• All instructions by traffic officers, marshals, and officials must be obeyed at all times.
• Athletes indemnify national, regional, and provincial athletics bodies, sponsors, and organisers against any claims arising from participation.
• The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or eject anyone who:
- Appears intoxicated,
- Is disorderly,
- Engages in vandalism,
- Attempts to participate without a valid entry.
• 21.1km Half Marathon Finish Cut-Off:
All participants must complete the race within 3 hours 30 minutes from the official start gun.
• 5km Run/Walk:
Must be completed within 1 hour 30 minutes..
• All entries must be completed online.

• Bring your confirmation SMS and your ID Document to collect your race pack.
• If collecting on behalf of someone else, bring a copy of their ID document.
• All uncollected packs will remain at the Expo collection point.

This race is a Family Orientated race, with minimum age of entry as 16 for the 50km Ultra, 21km and 10km. The 5km fun run/walk has no age restriction of entry. All under 18 entries should be authorised by parent / guardian
The mobility impaired community is also welcome to enter for wheelchair entry category to race
Each year the NW N12 Ultra Marathon will honor a special individual who made an outstanding contribution to the athletics development & pursue within the North West Province.
The 2024 Honorary award beneficiary will be announced 15-30 days prior the 2024 race.

No Qualification is needed for this race. The NW N12 Ultra Marathon is still at it’s debut stage, which means that it is an open race to all to participate in with no qualification criteria.
